Meet the Morel Family
Started by four sisters — Grecia, Juana, Nieve, and Maria — out of their home kitchens, the Morel family’s journey traces back to their roots in San Jose de Las Matas in the Dominican Republic. After involvement in the cassava (a root vegetable) trade, the sisters were inspired to craft unique ices using bold flavors and ingredients that represent their homeland.
After facing initial resistance, they eventually won over retailers and customers one delicious sample at a time. Today, the Morel family works hard to create ices that remain true to island flavors and representative of Mamita herself, the family matriarch who guided the next generations with her nurturing spirit and strong values.
