Mamita’s Ices were created around our family’s belief in quality and tradition. We believe the best recipes are filled with quality ingredients and have been passed down from generation to generation— which is exactly how Mamita’s Ices was born. Our beloved parents, Maximo and Juana Morel, shared the original recipe with their 8 children and the rest became delicious history.
It all started when our family came to the states from the Dominican Republic. Using only a few ingredients, a single pan, and a freezer, we began producing ices straight from our kitchen. It didn’t take long for us to realize we were onto something big. So, in a leap of faith, we branded the products “Mamita’s Ices” and began selling them from bodega to bodega. The ices were ready and our family was excited to take on the New York City marketplace.
In the beginning, our ices were only available in the Tamarindo flavor. Since then, we’ve created 8 other mouthwatering flavors, including Mango, Lemon, Passion Fruit, Coconut, and more! To accommodate the growing demand for our ices, we expanded Mamita’s from metropolitan-area bodegas and supermarkets to the entire tristate region and beyond. Today, they can be found all over the East Coast, from Massachusetts to Florida and all the way down to Puerto Rico!
Over the years, the one thing that’s never changed is our mission — to create quality products that represent who we are and where we come from. While everyone is welcome to enjoy a Mamita’s Ice, we take special pride in our heritage and attribute much of our success to the strong Latino community.
